2012
Our year long 2012 Book Challenge is 12/12/12. That’s your quest — read one book per month. Stop in the shop and pick up your challenge form! At the beginning of each month, tell us what you are planning to read. At the end of the month, stop in to confirm that you finished (not that there will be a test). Your name is entered for a monthly drawing for a $12.00 gift card. Your name stays in the “hat” and you can add your name every month so you have multiple choices to win. At the end of the year, all of our wonderful readers who finish the challenge will be eligible for the grand prize drawing of a $120.00 gift card. If you are just starting this month and you come in this week, we’ll let you fudge for January. I’m drawing the first name on the 6th.
Our February challenge is one that I’m going to do along with you. I read about this today on GalleyCat and it appeals to my love of receiving letters. My grandmothers and my grandfather were big letter writers. For years my father wrote a weekly letter on his Wednesdays off from the grocery store and sent it to all of us. When I was in college it was wonderful to go to the mailbox after lunch and have news from home. I sent my first today — sadly a condolence note to a business colleague. Use your nicest pen and send postcards, notes, newspaper clippings, and more. I’ll report back at the end of February. And thank Mary Robinette Kowal while you are at it. Send her a letter!
